The big one &#8212; <strong>an earth-shattering quake!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Actually, it was only <a href=\"http:\/\/www.quake.utah.edu\/req2webdir\/recenteqs\/Quakes\/uu00009475.html\" target=\"blank\">2.5 on the Richter scale<\/a> and lasted only 4 or 5  seconds, tops.  While it was happening, I wondered if it was wind  blowing the house, but after it was done, I was pretty sure it was an  earthquake.  Turns out the epicenter was just about <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=40.740N%20112.044W\" target=\"blank\">4 miles from my house<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This was the first real earthquake I&#8217;ve ever felt, and I was  rather excited.  Fortunately, there was no damage to our house (or  anyone else, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc4.com\/local_news\/local_headlines\/story.aspx?content_id=6994839E-E936-4A67-BAC7-021ADD9100BF\" target=\"blank\">this AP story<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So there I was at home, reading a book while Audrey slept and Sarah was at work, when it hit.
