{"id":90,"date":"2010-02-17T13:57:09","date_gmt":"2010-02-17T13:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.curtisgibby.com\/blog\/90\/workin-livin\/"},"modified":"2010-05-21T06:29:32","modified_gmt":"2010-05-21T12:29:32","slug":"workin-livin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtisgibby.com\/blog\/2010\/02\/workin-livin\/","title":{"rendered":"Workin&#8217; for a Livin&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In my almost-30 years on this planet, my father has worked for two  companies: \u00a0 Browning Arms all while I was growing up, then the LDS  Church since about the time I went on my mission. \u00a0 I&#8217;d call that a  commendable track record, especially in today&#8217;s labor marketplace.<\/p>\n<p>I mention this because, this morning, I am about to start a job with  my fourth company since Audrey was born four years ago. \u00a0 (Heck, since  Nathan was born <em>two<\/em> years ago!) \u00a0 <!--more-->The number is even higher if you  count changes in management and\/or name (i.e. Clear Channel sold ABC 4  to Newport Television; Rocky Mountain Printing was bought out by  Printech  Plus and became RM Plus, both of which are now being sold to  FC Printing \/ Advantage Mailing; and E-Harbor changed its name to  Marketecture.)<\/p>\n<p>My new position is doing web development (surprise!) for a company  called Sound Concepts. \u00a0 I have worked with them as one of RMP&#8217;s biggest  print-on-demand clients and I always thought it would be cool to work  with them full-time instead. \u00a0 Just days after I got laid off from  E-Harbor, my contact with Sound Concepts approached me about the  possibility of coming to work for them, and I jumped at the chance. \u00a0 My  salary will be better than at any of the other places I&#8217;ve worked, and  there&#8217;s the added bonus of having their headquarters literally a mile  and a half from our house here in American Fork.<\/p>\n<p>I hope that I&#8217;ll have a little more longevity with Sound Concepts  than I have had with other jobs recently. \u00a0 Maybe Baby #3 (due in  September, if you missed the announcement!) will be able to look back at  his\/her life and say, &#8220;My dad has only had one job since I was born.&#8221; \u00a0  Wish me luck!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In my almost-30 years on this planet, my father has worked for two companies: \u00a0 Browning Arms all while I was growing up, then the LDS Church since about the time I went on my mission. \u00a0 I&#8217;d call that a commendable track record, especially in today&#8217;s labor marketplace.
